Packages are moving at Amazon’s new fulfillment center, one mile west of Humble City Limits

Amazon.com recently opened it’s first Houston area fulfillment center right here in Humble, Texas.  Well, at least the Postal address is Humble, TX.

Located just one mile outside the City of Humble at 8120 Humble Westfield Rd, between Kenswick Dr. and Lee Rd., this 250,000 square feet fulfillment center is impressive, I was able to look around a bit, but was not allowed to take photos inside because of security reasons.  I’ve been an Amazon Fan for years, so it was a bit exciting just watching the packages moving down the conveyor belts, normally those brown smiley boxes are just sitting on my doorstep.

This facility has created over 200 new jobs in the area, all with full benefits, other part time and seasonal jobs are also available, and more jobs will be added as new services are introduced. Industry speculation is this facility will allow Amazon to expand its Same-Day Service to Houston.  Amazon currently offers Same-Day Delivery, seven days a week in Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle.

Amazon also recently introduced it’s Prime Pantry service, offering Amazon Prime customers Low-priced everyday essentials in everyday sizes, delivered to your home.
