Employees from the Innovative Technology Solutions department at Insperity, Inc., recently combined a team-building activity with community involvement efforts to support Family Promise of Lake Houston.
A group of more than 40 employees were divided into 10 teams and provided with a photo and information about a child served by Family Promise. Each group was given a bike frame with handlebars and wheels that was specifically selected for the child. Employees competed in various “minute-to-win-it” games, such as face the cookie, cup stacking and hangnails to earn the parts needed to complete assembly of the bikes.
The activity concluded with a surprise for the employees, the children and their families when they met one another to receive and ride their new bikes; and also enjoy a holiday luncheon.
“The relationship with Insperity has had a wonderful impact on our kids,” said Carole Brady, Family Promise executive director. “This event brought true joy and surprise to children who may never have experienced such a meaningful gift. We are so blessed to have been selected for this event.”
Family Promise of Lake Houston provides programs and services necessary to address the underlying causes of homelessness and return families to a self-sustaining life. The nonprofit organization brings together service agencies and local volunteers to provide safe, temporary housing, meals and support services to homeless families in the Lake Houston area.
