It looks like Trader Joe’s might finally be coming to Kingwood! According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the popular grocery store chain is set to remodel part of the former Randall’s location at 600 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood Commons.
The filing details plans for a $900,000 renovation of approximately 17,180 square feet, with construction expected to begin on June 1, 2025, and wrap up by December 1, 2025. However, we reached out to Trader Joe’s directly for confirmation, and as of now, we have not received a response.
Big Changes Coming to Kingwood Commons
The Kingwood Commons shopping center, located at 600 Kingwood Drive, has been undergoing changes since Randall’s closed. With Trader Joe’s appearing to take a portion of the old grocery store and Planet Fitness already confirmed for another section, the once-vacant space is filling up fast.
The former Randall’s footprint totaled 64,000 square feet. With 22,304 square feet going to Planet Fitness and 17,180 square feet allocated for Trader Joe’s, that still leaves about 24,516 square feet available for another potential tenant.
What’s the Hype About Trader Joe’s?
Trader Joe’s isn’t just another grocery store—it’s a fan favorite known for affordable organic produce, private-label specialty foods, and unique seasonal finds. Fans love their frozen meals, snacks, and famous Everything But The Bagel seasoning.
Right now, Kingwood residents have to travel to The Woodlands or Houston to shop at Trader Joe’s, so if this new location is confirmed, it would be a huge win for local shoppers.
